Schedule updates

South Dakota slope soaring dates for May and June are finalized. The May trip will be from Thursday the 13th through Sunday the 16th. The June trip will be from Thursday the 17th through Sunday the 20th.

The Builder's Challenge and Fun-Fly will be held May 23 at Jirik. The rain date is May 24. So far only one person has sent in an entry form for the Builder's Challenge. Interest appears to be minimal. The event will still take place but it will mainly be a fun fly. The club will provide food for the event and Ed will be in charge of that with Steve J. and Dave E. helping.

A scale soaring contest will be held on July 17 at Elk River. Steve L. is going to be the contest director. The will be several tugs on hand for aero-tow and possibly a vehicle for cross-country soaring. Expect a winch or hi-start and a bungee for the smaller slope and thermal models. Steve J. will coordinate things with folks at the 3DRC club to be sure they are aware of our event and make arrangements for frequency control.

Jim R. and Vern B. hope to hold a contest for "Woodies" and hi-starts some time this Summer. A date and time has not been proposed as of yet.

Our Contest Committee of Vern B. and Greg S. is still working on dates, times and directors for our Summer contests.

Steve J. hopes to hold at least two DLG/HLG contests and a "One Design" contest for ParkZone Radians this Summer. Dates for these events have not been finalized yet.

Jim P. is planning to come up from Iowa for a day of building, repairing and flying at the Man Shack at Tim's house in April. The date has not been finalized yet.

Miscellaneous

Local folks who want to be on our e-mail list, access the members area of our web site, or flying at club insured fields need to become members and join us to receive these benefits.

A local Girl Scout troop has contacted the club in regard to having someone speak about aviation and perhaps perform a flight demonstration. There appears to be little interest in pursuing this activity to date. If someone is indeed interested in becoming involved they should contact Steve J. ASAP for more information.

Jim R. is looking for a wing for an Ava or Bubble Dancer. If you have something you can part with then contact him directly.

The AMA sent the club raffle tickets to support the US Scale Team that is flying radio control, control-line and free flight in international competition this year. If you are interested in purchasing some tickets contact Steve J. for more information.

New Business

No new business was brought up.

Show and Tell

Dave E. was showing off his beautiful yellow/blue Tsunami that he recently purchased from Jim P. Jim did a fantastic job of finishing the aircraft and Dave is excited to compete with it this Summer.

Ted J. was showing off his recently completed Topsky DLG that he and his dad Steve have been working on. They have it balanced and ready to go. So far he has only made a few soft throws to check the glide and center of gravity. Ted's model will have a yellow tail while his dad's will be orange.

The meeting adjourned early and a few folks headed over to Sandy's afterwards for refreshments and further discussion of the finer points of the hobby and the meaning of life.  ;-)
