MRCSS Monthly Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the March 14, 2006 MRCSS meeting.
26 present, Edina Public Library.

President Adam Koller called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.
Two prospective members, Jeff James Kaslow and Chris Kohn introduced themselves and were welcomed to our meeting.

Adam reminded us of the date and venue of coming meetings:

  • April 20, 7 p.m. Edina Public Library
  • May 18, 7 p.m. Edina Public Library
  • June 17, just prior to pilots' meeting for June thermal contest, Farmington sod farm.
  • July 15, just prior to pilots' meeting for July thermal contest, Elk River sod farm.

Membership report:
Kevin Kavaney reported 68 of our 83 members have paid their annual dues.

Flying Events were listed and explanatory comments made:

  • May 13 Spring Tune Up thermal contest, Farmington sod farm (grass condition permitting).
  • May 18-21 So. Dakota Slopin' Safari. Our wild west show.
  • May 27 MARCEE & MRCSS Fun Fly, Farmington sod farm.
  • **June 8-11 Midwest Slope Challenge, Kansas (non club).
  • June 17 Summer Lift thermal contest, Farmington sod farm.
  • June 24 Fun Fly, Farmington sod farm.
  • July 15-16 The Big One thermal contest, Elk River sod farm.
  • **July 21-28 NATS Indiana (non club).
  • August 12 Dog Days thermal contest,Farmington sod farm.
  • Sept. 9 Fall Finale Fun Fly, Farmington sod farm.

The final item of business was a checklist of the five fields on and above which our activities are insured by AMA, and a discussion of how we might reconcile our club roster to the club listing at AMA headquarters.

Show-and-tell:
Jeff Thompson displayed two large coroplast boxes custom made to transport large gliders. They are light, inexpensive and provide excellent security.
