Paul Johnson has volunteered to convert the roster into a more usable electronic format.

Internet provider – kudos to Mike Glaser for the updated pages which look and work great. Mike proposed via email to change service provider. The new provider would offer more traffic bandwidth, 10x more storage, a faster internal email system for 3000 users, etc. Price would be more or less the same. The vote to update was unanimous in favor.

New Year ’s Day Freeze Fly - Emil Weiler reported a successful Freeze-Fly held in conjunction with some MARCEE members. All kinds of electrics were flown and of course JW’s were bungeed with abandon!

LSF Secretary – it was announced that Bill Rakozy was elected as LSF secretary. Congratulations to Bill!

Road trip to Porters – Emil and Kevin recently made a road-trip to glider nirvana, Porter’s in Iowa. Tall-tales of a giant workshop with hundreds of gliders and every tool known to man were spun.

Group EPP build project – 17 members participated in the first EPP build session. Most guys are building LEG and Skyking slopers but anything EPP goes. Come down to the next session to be held at 6:30 pm Wednesday, February 8th and learn from the masters of EPP! See the webpage for directions and detailed agenda.

Electric Propulsion 101 – postponed until February 16. Rich Ness will walk us through the basics from sizing motors and props to selecting batteries and speed controllers.

Paul Johnson proposed that we bring in our favorite tool to the next meeting for show and tell.

Show and Tell

Ib Jensen updated us on a tough repair he is making on a 4 meter Minimoa (?) wing which was severed halfway out after a major crash. Construction is foam covered with glass and then a layer of obechi. Ib explained a few techniques to get everything squared-up again. He also showed a neat trick to route over curved surfaces and a very tech looking angle of incidence setting tool.

Adam Koller showed the ailerons from a new MiraJ kit. They were capped with 12k carbon tow and microballon filler to make them as stiff as possible in torsion.

Bench Flying

Bench flying at the “new and improved” pub – Emil suggested the local watering hole Sandy’s, now affectionately christened “Puckwana-East”! Great service, karaoke-free, and only one beat up tele competing for our limited attention spans… we’ll be back!
